35 Bible Verses About I Have Called You by Name

There’s something deeply personal about being called by name. It means you’re not just another face in the crowd, not a number in a system, not an anonymous soul lost in the masses.

When someone knows your name and uses it, it signals recognition, relationship, and intentionality. You matter enough to be known individually.

This is exactly what God does throughout Scripture. He doesn’t deal with humanity as a collective blob; He knows each person by name. He called Moses by name from the burning bush. He called Samuel by name in the night.

He called Mary by name at the tomb. And in one of the most beautiful verses in Isaiah, God says “I have called you by name; you are mine.” Not “I know about you” but “I know YOU.”

In a world where we can feel invisible, replaceable, or insignificant, this truth hits different. The Creator of the universe knows your name. He knew it before you were born. He speaks it with affection, authority, and purpose.

You’re not an accident, not a mistake, not forgotten in the back of the line. You are individually known, specifically chosen, and personally called by the God who formed you.

These verses will remind you that your identity isn’t found in what others call you or how the world labels you, but in the fact that God knows your name and has called you His own.
